I wanted to go and see Birdman ever since I saw this picture:
Suffice it to say, the film didn’t disappoint. Starring Michael Keaton as Riggan Thomson, a former movie star famous for his role as superhero Birdman, it tells the story of how he tries to get his life, career and family back on track by writing, directing and starring in a Broadway play.
I could talk about the great supporting roles, like the hilariously unpredictable actor played with such aplomb by Edward Norton. Or the script which takes as many turns as the camera as it weaves through the backstage corridors of Keaton’s theatre. Or the giant metallic birdman who’s just full of the best advice. (I think he’s probably someone you want on your side). But you’re just going to have to go and enjoy it for yourself.
The only slight issue I have now is that I want to see the actual Birdman film that made Thomson’s name in the first place. Do you think Hollywood would oblige??
